Q: After a wireless survey of my premises is completed and I am able to receive the service, how soon can an installation be completed?

A: The installation date will normally be scheduled within 48 hours of a completed survey.

Q: Does this service require a telephone line?

A: No. An outdoor antenna is used to connect your premises to J2 Limited's Wireless Network.

Q: Will my service be affected by rain or other environmental conditions?

A: No. We use 900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz network equipment, common environmental conditons do not affect the system's operation.

Q: Can I get this service anywhere in Jamaica?

A: No. Currently we only offer services in Kingston, St. Andrew, Portmore and Hellshire.

Q: What hardware/software do I have to install on my computer to get this service?

A: The only hardware required is a Network Interface Card (NIC). Most new computers comes with this hardware. If your machine does not have this device, one can be supplied by J2 Limited at an additional cost.

The only software needed to access the Internet service is an Internet browser, for example Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari or Internet Explorer.

Q: Do you recommend the installation of Antivirus/Firewall software on my computer?

A: Yes. We recommend not only must your computer have an Antivirus Software installed, it should have auto updates enabled so that it downloads the latest antivirus updates.

When you use a high speed internet connection, there is a greater chance of your computer being attacked by a virus or hackers. Installing Firewall Software will minimize these problems. Also ensure your Operating System (OS) for example: Mac, Linux or Windows, has Automatic Updates enabled, so that the latest patches or service packs can be downloaded and installed to increase the perfomance of the computer.

Q: Can more than one computer use this service?

A: Yes. If there is an existing computer network installed, the service will connect to the router/hub/switch. If you do not have either, J2 Limited can arrange to supply and install one for an additional charge.

Q: What if I want a mobile wireless solution for my laptop, can J2 Limited provide this service?

A: Yes. We are presently testing a mobile wireless solution that will provide our customers with the freedom to get this service all across Jamaica. Click here for more information.

Q: How do I receive my bills?

A: Bills are sent out on the first of each month via email and a grace period of 7 days is given to pay.

Q: If I move to another location and I require the service, what do I do?

A: Simply contact us and we schedule a day and time to remove the equipment from the present location and relocate it to the new one, once we can provide service there, for an additional cost.
